Pity the end user

...Toil was hard enough in the good days. But now! Under increasing pressure to find efficiencies and create value in a recession the working environment just got a whole lot harder.

Imprisoned by business tools that are anti-intuitive the desk-bound human is in a pitiful state. In fact the human needs saving. And the good news from the P&L perspective is that in the process the business will be saved too.

That’s why we are pleased to support the campaign to “Release The Human"

Anyone running an online commerce environment knows there is a direct correlation between the business they get from their customers and the quality of the UX. Similarly improving the UX of your business tools has a direct impact on your bottom line. That’s why it should be a business imperative.

You get the most out of your people when their grey cells are freed to make well-informed decisions. This is what technology ought to do for your organisation.

But somewhere along the way the order of things got muddled up; instead of technology bending to meet the needs of humans, technology took over. Suddenly the back end was all over the front end and the poor user… well, pity the user. They spend so long trying to work out how to use their tools – rather than enjoying them and wanting to use them, that work becomes a chore. As a consequence very few business tools light up inspiration and liberate the human mind for creativity, analysis, learning and decision-making. To build a better working environment you need to start with the Human in mind – Not the Task. In other words bend the technology to the human. Do it right and you’ll get better results from less frustrated, nay happier, and more productive colleagues.
